How Adaptable Are You?

A message from Sandy—-Teamwork and personal rigidity just don’t mix.  If you are going to work well with others, you have to be able to adapt yourself to the team, or your co-workers. Adaptable people have certain characteristics:

They are teachable. Are you interested in the unknown? What is the path to the unknown? Adaptable people place a high priority on breaking new ground. They are highly teachable.

They are emotionally secure. People that are emotionally secure do not see almost everything as some type of challenge or threat. They do not meet another talented person with rigidity or suspicion. Secure people are not nervous by change itself. They evaluate and new situation or change in responsibilities based on merit.

They are creative. When times are difficult, creative people find a way, they think outside the box, consider strange, unusual and unorthodox ideas They are fearless. Creativity fosters adaptability.

They are service oriented. People focused on themselves will find it more difficult to make changes for the good of the team than people focused on  the big picture or serving others. If your goal is to serve the team, adapting to accomplish that goal isn’t difficult.

In what ways can you become more adaptable?
