Adversity: Here to Break Us or Make Us?

A message from Sandy. Stress, suffering and other difficulties may be the admission ticket into the game of life. Don’t we all suspect at one time or another that life would be easier without all the hassles? Let’s think about that for a minute, a world without hurdles would mean no champions; a world without suffering would mean no Mother Theresa’s; and a world without battles would mean no victories. It would appear that a world that includes adversity is more rewarding than one without. Isn’t  heat necessary to produce gold, isn’t pressure and polishing required to produce diamonds, and adversity necessary to produce character?

Henry Ford expressed this sentiment, “Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though sometimes it is hard to realize this. For the world was built to develop character, and we learn that the setbacks which we endure help us on our  marching onward.” So again I ask, is adversity here to break us or make us?
