Do You Suffer From “Someday” Disease?

A message from Sandy.—-Someday I’m going to take a vacation. Someday I’m going to read all those books and magazines I have piled up. (You know the pile I’m talking about!) Someday I’m going to take gourmet cooking lessons, learn a language, keep in touch with old friends, get a more fulfilling job…………on and on the list goes. Sound familiar? Someday. Maybe………does this sound like you? A quick trip to the productivity doctor could reveal a diagnosis of someday disease.
I think everyone gets someday disease, it’s as widespread as the common cold. Have you ever asked yourself why you’re putting things off? Have you ever considered that someday disease may manifest itself with a particular mindset. Perhaps a sufferer may believe conditions need to be just right, they have to know enough, have enough, be ready enough. In other words we have a tendency to believe all the pieces have to be in place before we can proceed. It may be well- intentioned, but is it reasonable or are we being naive? What is your someday?
“Conditions are never perfect. “Someday” is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. If it’s important to you and you want to do it “eventually”, just do it and correct course along the way.”–Tim Ferriss
