What Kind of Superhero Will You Be?

written by Terry - June 20th, 2010 at 3:38 pm

A message from Terry: In this brave new age of social media, we share a moral quandary with the likes of Superman and the Fantastic Four – namely, how to use our extraordinary powers for good.

Well, okay, maybe we can’t actually fly, or bend steel with our bare hands. But we can use our online presence to send our thoughts through thin air, communicating with an immediacy and impact that generate a sobering sense of responsibility.

One of our biggest challenges as a dental professional is how to become a valued resource to our patients, one that is reliably helpful and relevant in their lives. What sort of offerings do we choose to share? Here are some possibilities for your online fan page:

  • Information about the services you most enjoy providing, be that implants, restorative, orthodontia, veneers or beyond.
  • News about dental-health-related topics such as TMJ, sleep apnea, reduction of decay, and the creation of improved periodontal health.
  • Specials that you offer. (But be sure to keep the actual ‘marketing language’ to a minimum, to prevent your site from taking on a promotional or marketing edge that overshadows your practice’s personal connection to your patients.)

Whatever you choose to offer, make it relevant, interesting and fun, whenever possible. Your online fan page can – and should – be a reflection of what you believe in and stand for, a genuine extension of your care and service.

Superman stood for truth, justice and the America way. Does your practice’s fan page make your mission equally clear?
