Choose To Be Happy At Work

Choose to be happy A message from Sandy.  Happiness is a choice. We can choose to be happy at work. Sound simple? Yes, and simplicity is often profoundly difficult to put into action. I wish we all had the greatest employers in the world, or that we were all the greatest employees, but let’s face it—we’re not!  I find that if I focus more on the aspects of work that I do like, and think positively about the challenges I have to face everyday it helps. Most importantly I try to avoid the negative people, support yourself with coworkers you enjoy collaborating with and whatever you do—don’t forget your sense of humor!  Personally, this saves me everyday, finding things to laugh about relieves the stress and opens your mind to other possibilities. I believe your choices you make at work define your experience. You can be happy at work!

Happiness at work could involve taking charge of your own professional and personal development. Why wait for your boss to help you develop professionally? After all who do you think is most interested in your development? You are of course! You are the person with the most to gain from continuing to develop professionally and personally. Take charge of your own growth; this may require asking for specific and meaningful help from your boss, and march to the beat of your own personally developed plans and goals. You have the most to gain, and the most to lose, if you do nothing.

Choosing to be happy at work? What will that look like? What will be different?
