Increase Your Risk Threshold

Surfer A message from Sandy. In John Maxwell’s book Failing Forward  he investigates why some people are successful and others may not be successful. Are they lucky, blessed, or have the Midas touch? What he reveals is “The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of, and response to, failure.” He further states that “The not talked about, terrible truth is that all roads to achievement lead through the land of failure. Every person you admire has walked this road.”

The willingness to take greater risks is a major key to achieving success. Think about this—–if  you have been hitting all the goals you set for yourself, then you need to increase your willingness to take chances. The road to the next level is always uphill. (no coasting allowed!)

Leadership expert Peter Drucker says, ” The better a man is, the more mistakes he will make, for the more new things he will try.”  How could you turn your mistakes into a stepping stone? Think about the next big goal ahead of you—-do you have a plan for reaching it? Have you included any risks? Is there a way that you could find parts of the process where you can push the envelope, take more chances and increase your opportunity for success?
