Keeping Your Goals On Track

A message from Janis: Life brings changes, large and small. Sometimes, we choose those changes. Other times, the changes choose us. So consider this little fairy tale:
Once upon a time, team members wanted to improve their practice and better serve their patients. They carefully devised a set of goals, identifying the action steps necessary to achieve them. And peace and prosperity graced the practice.
But time passed, as time does. Personnel and the economy changed, and the team pondered whether their goals still fit their circumstances…
Does that sound familiar? If so, what can you do to assure that your goals still suit the needs of your practice? Revisiting the goal-setting process can help you and your team:
- Acknowledge and celebrate your successes
- Analyze and assess where you might be stuck
- Work out a course correction, where necessary
- Problem-solve some new solutions
- Keep your focus on the future, to move the process forward
Bottom line, don’t take your goals for granted. Revisit the true purpose behind them, from time to time, to keep your eye on the prize so that you, too, can reach your fairytale ending.
