The Two-Piece Puzzle

A message from Terry: Are the summer doldrums getting you down? Are you hot, tired, and feeling a little cranky? If so, a wise old saying says, “A change is as good as a rest.” Since it’s unlikely that anyone is going to offer you a month-long, all-expenses-paid vacation, changing up your routine at work could be the next best solution.
Maybe you’re way ahead of us, and have already been planning some improvements. Or maybe someone else has beaten you to it. Whether you’re the one creating new plans or simply one of the people affected by them, it pays to remember that there are two vital elements involved in any successful change.
“The only way to change outcomes is to change events.”
Paul Azinger, Cracking The Code
If you want things to improve, then (in the words of Johnny Mercer’s great old song), “Something’s gotta give.” No risk, no reward. Still, no plan, however perfect, can make things better as long as it only exists on a piece of paper. To truly come to life, that plan needs to be implemented.
“Any system, no matter how effective, requires execution from great players to ensure success.” Dr. Ron Braund, corporate business advisor
So, if change is in the air, don’t sag in the heat and drag your feet. Take a chance. Make a change. Be one of those great players who help to ensure success.
What change are you prepared to try, this summer, to make your practice a better place for you, your coworkers and your patients?
