Feed The People Around You

A message from Sandy. In John Maxwell’s book Becoming a Person of Influence—How To Positively Impact the Lives of Others, he shows us how we can interact more positively with others.
In some regards, people will respond similarly to an animals reaction. And like animals, people need to be cared for, not just physically, but emotionally. If you look around you will discover there are people in you life that want to be fed with encouragement, recognition, security and hope. This process is called nurturing, and we all need it.
If you desire to become an influencer in others lives, start by nurturing them. People sometimes mistakenly believe that the way to become an influencer is to become an authority figure—–correct others errors, reveal the weak areas they can’t easily see for themselves, and give so called constructive criticism. John Knox said, “You cannot antagonize and influence at the same time.”
At the heart of the nurturing process is a genuine concern for others. As you try to help and influence those people around you, you must have positive feelings and concern for them. You must give love and respect. What could you do to feed your team today?

Wow! This hit me between the eyes and the heart, Sandi! Thanks to you I just made a phone call to tell one of them how I’d been speaking about her today at the workshop I’m in…everyone there got to hear what a positive impact she makes in my life, yet what I said isn’t what she’s always heard from me. It brought laughter & joy to both of us.
