The Power To Rekindle Someone’s Light

A message from Sandy. I love this quote, “At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”—Albert Schweitzer
There is such truth in this, think about when your own inner light has dimmed or completely gone out—who was there to rekindle it? I can remember a time when my inner light had gone out—not completely out, but pretty dim. For whatever reason, usually because I started thinking too much, then lose focus, and find myself temporarily in the dark. It has been in those times when I have found solace in others and it has been their spark that has rekindled my own. We should be truly thankful for those people who rekindle our inner spirit.
It could be anything. Any type of encouragement or recognition of change or growth. A simple smile from a stranger on the street, a quick phone call, a text, or e-mail from a friend. This may be an opportunity for a lesson to be learned for all of us. If your light is dimmed and need rekindling, or if you recognize the dimmed light of another and become the rekindler (is that even a word?), to relight someones inner flame, may not take much. It’s an opportunity to stay in touch and let someone know you care. How do you recognize when your inner light has dimmed or gone out? What did you do to find a spark to rekindle your inner fire? What can you do to rekindle someone else’s light?
