Don’t Keep Secrets From Yourself

A message from Terry: People don’t come equipped with speedometers or gas gauges. As a result, it’s sometimes hard to fairly judge the level of effort being contributed by the other members of your team. But what about your own contribution? What level of effort do you contribute on an average day? A hundred percent? Or is it more like 80%…or maybe 65%…?
When it comes to accountability, the buck really does stop here. For people who kid themselves about the quality of their own performance, accountability becomes an unreachable target. But people who are willing to assess themselves and their own contributions honestly soon discover that they are on a path to excellence, and that the sky is the limit. Commit to your own success by taking honest ownership of your practices. When you do, good things follow.
Envision a team where all of the members consistently hold themselves to a high standard of accountability. What would such a team look like? How would it feel, to be an integral part of that sort of excellence?
