Who’s Really In Charge Of Your Life?

If something goes wrong, what is your first thought? “Who’s to blame?” Have you ever wondered why some people make more money, live happier lives, or accomplish more? If you had to pick one of the keys to success, would it be self-discipline?

Your ability and willingness to discipline yourself to accept personal responsibility for your life is essential to happiness, health, success, achievement, and personal leadership. Accepting responsibility is one of the hardest of all disciplines, but without it, success is impossible.

The failure to accept responsibility and attempt to foist responsibility  onto others has dire consequences. It completely distorts cause and effect, undermines our character, weakens our resolve, and diminishes our humanity. This can make you stop and think.  You can no longer blame your situation on a difficult childhood, or mistakes you  have made in the past. You are  in charge. You are in the driver’s seat. It’s your life, if you want something to change, you have to do something. This revelation could change your life–you may never be the same again. Accept more responsibility for everything. What needs to change to move you to action?

Sandy…you’re on target as always. I found the following link which I think for me what needs to be done. http://www.oprah.com/spirit/Why-You-Must-Have-Solitude-and-Time-For-Yourself
It’s Oprah’s list of 5 reasons we need time for ourselves. It continues on several pages. I do think we’re all so externally focused that we look outside ourselves for answers and thus also look there to place the responsibility you listed above versus accepting it and making the decisions that move us forward.
Thanks for tickling our perspectives and giving us the opportunity to think about our daily situations.
Wherever do you come up with these ideas? They’re great!

Thanks Linda–it’s really an ongoing project. Things happen everyday that peak my interest. I just keep looking for information. Thanks for the support and the well thought out responses. I am going to check out this link. As Terry says, “Ever onward!”
