JOIN THE CIRCUS!

“Motherhood has relaxed me in many ways. You learn to deal with crisis. I’ve become a juggler, I suppose. It’s all a big circus, and nobody who knows me believes I can manage, but sometimes I do.” Jane Seymour
A message from Terry: Actress (and mother of twin boys) Jane Seymour compares motherhood to a circus. By that same logic, there are connective threads between the circus and any activity or undertaking that is complex and multi-layered – say, for instance, your dental practice.
Your ability (and willingness) to multi-task and remain constructively responsive are vital ingredients in the recipe for success in this kind of environment. And the first step is for you to accept that your actions have a direct impact on the other members of your team. No two days are alike, and that means that each day will bring its own unique set of challenges that can only be conquered if you are all alert and willing to be versatile.
So, if this were the circus, who would you be?
The Ring Master: Like the still hub at the center of a spinning wheel, you coordinate the whole show, making sure that everything moves forward smoothly…and that the tigers don’t eat the clowns!
The Trapeze Artist: Working fearlessly without a net, you have mastered momentum, and you know all about the importance of split-second timing. You also value being able to trust the teammate whose reliability frees you to fly through the air with the greatest of ease!
The Lion Tamer: Lions and tigers and bears? Oh my! But no one ever sees you sweat! Armed with a sense of confidence that’s virtually bullet-proof, you face even the crankiest creatures and convince them to do just what you say.
What can you do to help tomorrow’s “performance under the Big Top” be a hit?
