Inspiration Through Acceptance

be inspired A message from Sandy. We all have many roles to fulfill each day—a team member, a mom,a  daughter, counselor, friend, chauffeur, mediator, encourager, seeker of peace, and writer to name a few. We all feel the pressure of our responsibilities bearing down on us, feeling pulled in many directions from time to time. As you are sitting quietly, asking for insight (in those few precious moments when you have locked yourself in the bathroom) perhaps it would be worth considering this saying, “Strive to live a life of inspiration, not a life of perfection.”

You, like many of us, may have believed we had to perfect. We expected ourselves to know how to do things, even before we were taught them. You may have passed up opportunities to try things, because you couldn’t even give yourself a chance. “Judy Judgement “steps up and has her say. How has the idea of having to perfect at everything impacted every aspect of our lives? “Judy Judgement” is still telling us, we don’t know what we are doing, we’re still not good enough, we don’t deserve to have success……………sound familiar?  She’s really quite a blabbermouth. People say relationships are mirrors of our deepest truths. What do you say to that? If the answer is YIKES!—-here’s a few more questions for you. Where is the compassion for yourself and your personal journey? Where does this criticism come from? What has happened to your compassionate voice? And who does this “Judy Judgement” think she is anyway—who gave her the power to be so critical?

How many times do we beat ourselves up for what we think is not a good enough job?  Thinking, I could have done more, I could have done better. About now, you feel a heaviness come over you, realizing the tremendous pressure you have chosen to live with. How much of your life have you spent trying to prove you are good enough?

NEWS FLASH……..I am not perfect and do not know how to do everything and I don’t need to …………AND I am still good enough!

Remember the saying, ” Strive to live a life of inspiration, not a life of perfection.” What does this mean to you? Perhaps it means to live every moment, be present, live with courage, show up  everyday and commit to learn more, strive to feel more connected, and start to put the pieces of you own journey together. Love more, both yourself and others—accept more about yourself and others. We can all inspire each other! I think it’s time to give ourselves a break, take a deep breath and say, “Thank you for being here and doing the best you can. You inspire me.” May we inspire each other by accepting all that we are and all that we are not.
